What's the difference between Storage VPS and Cloud VPS?

Cloud VPS is optimised for compute — fast NVMe, high vCPU and RAM relative to storage. Storage VPS trades compute for capacity — you get significantly more disk at a lower cost per GB. If your primary need is running applications, choose Cloud VPS. If your primary need is storing large volumes of data, choose Storage VPS.

Is the storage SSD or HDD?

SSD on all plans. While Cloud VPS uses NVMe (PCIe Gen 4), Storage VPS uses high-capacity SSD which is optimised for sequential read/write workloads like backups and media streaming — faster and more reliable than HDD, at a better price per GB than NVMe.

Can I expand storage beyond 1TB?

The L plan is our current maximum single-tier Storage VPS. For larger requirements, you can combine multiple Storage VPS instances, or contact us to discuss a custom dedicated storage solution — our Dedicated Pro range can be configured with additional drives for multi-TB capacity.

Can I mount additional volumes?

Yes — additional block storage volumes can be attached and mounted as additional drives. Pricing for additional volumes is charged separately. Contact us for current volume pricing and availability in your selected region.

What file systems are supported?

Since you have full root access and KVM virtualisation, you can format and mount with any Linux-supported file system: ext4, XFS, ZFS, Btrfs, and others. ZFS and Btrfs are popular choices for storage servers due to their checksumming and snapshot capabilities.

Is there a minimum contract?

No — Storage VPS plans are month-to-month by default. You can cancel at any time from your client area. Multi-month billing options are available at a discount if you prefer to pay upfront.

Can I use this for Nextcloud or a self-hosted file sharing platform?

Yes — Storage VPS M and L are well-suited for Nextcloud, Seafile, and Minio. You have full root access to install your stack, and the dedicated IP makes DNS setup straightforward. For Nextcloud we recommend the M tier minimum (3 vCPU, 8GB RAM) for a smooth multi-user experience.
