Your name.
Your corner of the internet.

When you register a domain, ICANN requires registrant contact details to be published in a public database called WHOIS. Without privacy, anyone can look up your name, address, phone, and email. With WHOIS privacy enabled, our registrar's details appear instead of yours — protecting you from spam, data brokers, and cold callers. We include it free on every domain because we think it should be the default.

Yes — domain transfers are straightforward. You'll need the EPP/Auth code from your current registrar, and your domain must not have been registered or transferred within the last 60 days. The transfer process typically takes 5–7 days for international domains and 1–2 days for .co.za. WhatsApp us and we'll walk you through it.

We send renewal reminders at 60 days, 30 days, 14 days, and 7 days before expiry. If auto-renewal is enabled and your payment method is current, renewal is handled automatically. If a domain expires, most extensions have a 30-day grace period during which you can renew at normal price. After that, a redemption fee applies before it becomes available to others. Auto-renewal is enabled by default — we recommend keeping it on.

Absolutely — your domain is fully portable. Update the nameservers in your client area to point to any hosting provider. Similarly, you can host with SankoHost and register your domain anywhere — just update the nameservers to ours. The two are completely independent.

Most DNS record changes (A, CNAME, MX, TXT) propagate globally within 15–60 minutes when using SankoHost nameservers. Nameserver changes themselves can take up to 24–48 hours to fully propagate across all DNS servers worldwide, though most users see the change within 2–4 hours.

.co.za is South Africa's country code TLD — it signals local credibility and is trusted by South African consumers, search engines, and businesses. .com is the global standard — better if you're targeting an international audience. Many South African businesses register both to protect their brand. The Growth hosting plan includes a free .co.za, so bundling both is cost-effective.
